Here we are, nearly eighty years after the end of WWII and ‘Murica, the cradle and arsenal of democracy, has become such a politically polarized political mess that it’s an embarrassment to its western democratic allies. In other places around the world the kind of fractionism found in ‘Murican politics inevitably leads to civil wars and/or military coups.
Even worse, there’s the specter of electing someone next year who admires dictators , doesn’t believe in democracy and will refuse to leave when his term expires. If we believe what he’s saying to the ‘Rumpettes’ (his loyal followers), he’ll be using the position to ensure all his critics are permanently silenced.
But, before we all get too gloomy, I have a modest proposal that should avoid all the pitfalls: squabbles, dictatorship and even possible coups. It will require ‘Murica to make a constitutional amendment, but that should be easier than repealing prohibition – this is, after all, a proposal that will appeal to everyone, no matter their political affiliation.
So, start with ‘Murica taking its currently dysfunctional republican system of government and blend it with a constitutional monarchy. The Disney castle in Florida will be moved beside Mar-a-Lago in Florida, refurbished as a palace and filled with flunkeys and sycophants dressed in dazzling orange livery. These minions will all be schooled in the art of bowing, scraping, self-abasement and shameless flattery. It shouldn’t be too difficult to find lots of those if recruiting starts in Congress. The duties of the new King will be to commune directly with God, officiate the opening of Congress and, of course, be fawned upon as he travels throughout the land. For the rest of his life he’ll be opening new shopping malls etc. and remain a revered presence at all events where a royal smell needs wafting in the air.
It’s got to be a winner for the Rumpettes, as it will no doubt make America great again!
TL:DR – King Donald the First. We can hardly wait.
The funny thing is, it was proposed back in the day that George Washington be named King and rule as such. However he turned it down, stating that they got rid of the British king and he did not want to replicate that system.

Of course George Washington was no Donald Trump – thank goodness.
